The Foundation is primarily funded via private contributions. The Foundation’s income comes from donations by the different individuals and institutions that form part of its Boards of Trustees and Patrons, revenue from its assets and public grants.
As of 31st December 2023, the Foundation’s net assets amounted to the sum of 33.6 million euros. The total cost of the activities carried out by the Princess of Asturias Foundation in 2023 amounted to 6,3 million euros. The budget approved by the Board of Trustees for the year 2025 amounts to 7.3 million euros, with 89% coming from private funding and 11% from public grants.
As a non-profit organization, the Princess of Asturias Foundation allocates all its funds to the carrying out of its activities or to undertaking new actions that benefit society at large. In the event of there being any surplus funds, these are allotted to increase the institution’s assets or to its reserve fund.
The Princess of Asturias Foundation does not receive any contribution whatsoever from the Household of His Majesty The King.
Should an individual approach the Foundation with the purpose of making a donation, any such offer will be passed on to the Assets Committee of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees for it to assess its appropriateness.
