Ana Isabel Fernández Álvarez, appointed president-elect of the Princess of Asturias Foundation

By acclamation of the institution’s Board of Trustees, she will take over from Luis Fernández-Vega Sanz as of December.

Professor of Financial Economics and Rector of CUNEF University, Ana Isabel Fernández Álvarez, has been appointed president-elect of the Princess of Asturias Foundation by acclamation of the institution’s Board of Trustees at the extraordinary meeting held this morning in Oviedo and online, employing a hybrid format. She will take up office as of December 2022.

Ana Isabel Fernández Álvarez will succeed Luis Fernández-Vega Sanz who, after four years heading the Foundation, is the institution’s fifth president, following Matías Rodríguez Inciarte (2008-2018), José Ramón Álvarez Rendueles (1996 -2008), Plácido Arango Arias (1987-1996) and Pedro Masaveu Peterson (1980-1987).

This appointment occurs following the resignation for reasons of health of the President of the Board of Trustees, Mauro Guillén Rodríguez, who had been named to fill the post last May.
