Ordinary meeting of the Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees

The Princess of Asturias Foundation Board of Trustees held its ordinary meeting corresponding to the second half of the year at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo today, where it approved the budget and action plan for 2023 and was informed of the activities undertaken this past year and of the institution’s financial situation and assets.

Luis Fernández-Vega Sanz, president of the Foundation between 2018 and 2022, and its director, Teresa Sanjurjo, presented a report detailing the activity carried out by the institution throughout the year, with special attention to the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony and the cultural events that precede it, as well as the impact that all this had in the media.

The report includes information on participation at the events organized last October to mark the Awards Ceremony, which were attended by more than 23 000 people. To this figure should be added the more than 5700 participations by pupils from the 103 schools in the Principality of Asturias that participated in the “Taking the Floor” cultural programme.

The economic evaluation of the news generated by the Foundation in the Spanish media during the month of October amounted to 24 325 603 euros, according to data provided by media monitoring consultants Onclusive.

Budget 2023

Following the presentation of the figures corresponding to the year 2022, the Board of Trustees, chaired by Ana Isabel Fernández Álvarez, unanimously approved the action plan and budget for 2023, amounting to 5.68 million euros. This figure once again reflects the institution’s budgetary independence, with 85% of its income coming from the private sector and 15% from the public sector.

Furthermore, the appointments of Garrigues and of the iZen Group to the Princess of Asturias Board of Trustees and that of Impulso as a Patron of the Foundation were likewise approved.
