Programme of cultural events marking the 2024 Princess of Awards Ceremony
Registration will open in three stages, on 5th, 12th and 19th October
The Princess of Asturias Foundation has put together a broad-ranging programme comprising 100 cultural activities to mark the Princess of Asturias Awards, now in their forty-fourth year. Under the title “Awards Week”, the programme will take place between 12th and 26th October in Avilés, Gijón, Güeñu/Bueño, Grado/Gráu, Moreda, Oviedo and Pola de Siero.
Registration to attend the events will open in three stages:
- At 10:00am on Saturday 5th October for the activities to be held between 12th and 17th October.
- At 10:00am on Saturday 12th October for the activities to be held between 18th and 20th October.
- At 10:00am on Saturday 19th October for the activities to be held between 21st and 26th October.
Furthermore, this year there will be an online queue system to access the ticket system on 12th and 19th October.
The Laureates will participate in meetings with the public, meetings with experts in their respective fields and activities with pupils from various schools in Asturias. Since 1996, the Foundation has scheduled different activities in diverse locations in Asturias aimed at making the Laureates and their contributions to the world of science, culture or any other field in which they work better known to society at large.
Extension of “Awards Week”
The Princess of Asturias Foundation has extended the activities of this year’s “Awards Week” to mark the ten years Her Royal Highness The Princess of Asturias has been Honorary President of the institution and following her coming of age. A special programme has accordingly been designed that, in addition to the 2024 Laureates, will feature Laureates from previous years and their work.
The “Taking the Floor” cultural programme for schools in the Principality of Asturias, now in its ninth year, includes nine activities aimed at bringing the merits and careers of the Laureates closer to the educational community. Since its launch in March 2015 up until the 2023 edition, the programme has registered more than 42 981 participations by primary, secondary, baccalaureate and vocational training students from 233 schools in the Principality.
This cycle of activities, corresponding to the forty-fourth edition of the Princess of Asturias Awards, has counted on the institutional collaboration of Spain’s Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with Parliament and Democratic Memory, the Ministry of Defence, the Principality of Asturias Regional Government, the Principality of Asturias Regional Parliament, Oviedo, Gijón, Güeño/Bueño and Avilés Municipal Councils, the University of Oviedo and the Cajastur Foundation.
ADMISSION TO LA VEGA ARMS FACTORY
To visit the permanent installations at the Arms Factory, you must register in advance via a form on the Foundation’s website.
To visit the factory without a ticket during the following times, you can check at the door whether this is possible provided that no event is taking place.
- Saturday 19th, Sunday 20th and Saturday 26th October: from 11:00am to 2:00pm and from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
- Remaining days, from Monday 21st to Friday 25th October: from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
