TM The King and Queen meet with the members of the boards of trustees of the Princess of Asturias Foundation

TM The King and Queen meet with the members of the Princess of Asturias Foundation’s Boards of Trustees at 11:00am today, Tuesday 21st June, at the Royal Palace in Madrid.

A detailed report on the work carried out in 2021 will be presented during the meeting, as well as a report on the financial situation and assets of the Foundation, which ended the year with positive net income. The Foundation’s overall expenditure in 2021 amounted to 5.16 million euros.

The institution’s Annual Report, which will be presented to the Trustees during the meeting, contains figures and information related to the activities undertaken throughout 2021. The Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony returned to the Campoamor Theatre in 2021 —following the 2020 presentation of the Awards, which was held at a different venue due to the COVID-19 pandemic— and the Prince Felipe Auditorium hosted the traditional concert held on the eve of the Awards Ceremony. Seating at both events was limited to under 60 per cent. The accompanying cultural programme was likewise adapted to the existing healthcare circumstances in terms of the formats employed and the number of attendees, while the “Taking the Floor” cultural programme for schools in the Principality of Asturias was resumed. “Awards Week”, which included the participation of the Laureates and comprised 64 cultural activities, brought together 18 921 participants, of whom 11 825 participated in person and 7096, online. The programme included concerts, art installations, stage shows, films, meetings with the public, working breakfasts, round tables, exhibitions and workshops.
