Counterpoint to Serrat and Versed in Serrat. Taking the Floor.

Date and time:

Place: Río Nora state secondary school. Pola de Siero.

Admission by invitation.

A meeting with a delegation of pupils who have participated in the “Counterpoint to Serrat” and “Versed in Serrat” activities within the “Taking the Floor” cultural programme for schools. Both proposals were dedicated to the career of 2024 Princess of Asturias Laureate for the Arts Joan Manuel Serrat. The Foundation encouraged pupils to learn more about the Laureate’s music and listen to three of his emblematic compositions: “Mediterráneo”, “Hoy puede ser un gran día” and “Esos locos bajitos”. Using the same melody, they had to create lyrics as a counterpoint to the original and record an audio file with the song.  Older pupils were asked to listen to some of Serrat’s songs inspired by poems. Then, guided by their teachers, they had to set to music and record a poem of their choice.
