Every person has the right to…. Taking the Floor. Michael Ignatieff.

2024 Princess of Asturias Laureate for Social Sciences Michael Ignatieff meets with a delegation of 3rd- and 4th-year secondary school and baccalaureate students participating in the “Everyone has the right to…” activity within the “Taking the Floor” cultural programme for schools. With the background of universal rights as the core of Ignatieff’s thinking, each student had to choose an article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights they considered needed amending or completing, or suggest adding a new one. After sharing their ideas, the group had to reach a consensus and finally choose two articles to present along with their reasoned decision. Furthermore, in order to promote critical thinking among students, the Foundation organised round tables on various topics with the participation of philosophers Astrid Wagner and Javier Gomá.
