Mario Bunge Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities 1982

The members of the Jury for the 1982 Prince of Asturias Award for Communications and Humanities, Carlos Luis Álvarez, Luis María Ansón, Luis Michelena, Guillermo Luca de Tena, José Ortega Spottorno, and Pedro Saínz Rodríguez, gathered in Oviedo on the 13th and 14th of May, 1982, under the presidency of José Ferrater Mora and with Juan Cueto Alas acting as secretary, have agreed to grant this award to Mario Augusto Bunge, born in Buenos Aires and currently a Professor of Philosophy in Canada.

The Jury wished to highlight, in the person of this eminent Argentinian, the recognition of the work carried on overseas in disciplines which, like the Philosophy of Natural and Social Sciences, have in Doctor Mario Augusto Bunge one of their most distinguished representatives.

Mario Bunge has contributed to analysis and laying the theoretical foundations in the field of Natural and Social Sciences with a long series of works, which have greatly influenced research carried out in these subjects both in Spain and in Spanish America.
