The Jury for the 1991 Prince of Asturias Award for Communications and Humanities, comprising Juan José Alonso Millán, Carlos Luis Alvarez, Pilar Cernuda, Augusto Delkader, Eugenio Fontán, Nativel González Preciado, José Luis Gutiérrez, María Carmen Iglesias, Pedro Laín Entralgo, Víctor Márquez Reviriego, José Oneto, Horacio Sáenz Guerrero, Ricardo Senabre, José María Torquero, gathered in Oviedo under the presidency of Jose Luis Pinillos and with Roman Suárez Blanco acting as secretary, have decided by majority to grant the 1991 Prince of Asturias Award for Communications and Humanities to Luis María Anson Oliart, for his important work as editor of the ABC daily newspaper and the hundred-year-old magazine, Blanco y Negro, of deep and on-going influence in Spanish society, as well has for his loyalty to his living feeling for tradition, history and the defence of liberties. Likewise, the Jury has taken into account the singular dedication of ABC to culture and the arts and its special attention to Hispanic values world wide.
