Adolfo Suárez Prince of Asturias Award for Concord 1996

The members of the Jury for the 1996 Prince of Asturias Award for Concord, José Ramón Álvarez Rendueles, Gabino de Lorenzo, Juan Abelló, José María Amusátegui, Agustín Antuña, Adolfo Barthe Aza, Javier Benjumea, Marquis of Puebla de Cazalla, José Celma, Ramón Colao, José Ramón Fernández Cuevas, Manuel Gómez de Pablos, Martín González del Valle, Baron of Grado, Francisco Prada, Román Suárez Blanco, gathered in Oviedo under the presidency of Sergio Marqués Fernández and with Pedro de Silva Cienfuegos-Jovellanos acting as secretary, have unanimously agreed to grant the 1996 Prince of Asturias Award for Concord to Mr. Adolfo Suárez González, bearing in mind the significance of his personal contribution to democratic harmony among the Spanish people, which reaches out as an example on a world-wide scale.
