Amos Oz Prince of Asturias Award for Literature 2007
"If I have to say in one word what my entire literary work is all about, I would say families. If I had two words, I would say unhappy families. If I had more than two words, you would have to read my works. For forty years now I have been struggling for a historical compromise between Israel and Palestine, based on a two-state solution: Israel next door to Palestine in Peace and mutual respect.
The Prize Príncipe de Asturias for Literature is an honour and a joy for me particularly because I have been a great admirer of Spanish Literature all my Life. I am very grateful to the Jury for granting me this honour. Thank you".
