Bob Dylan Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts 2007
At its meeting in Oviedo, the Jury for the 2007 Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts - made up of Mr. Fernando Argenta, Mr. Fernando Delgado, Ms. Isabel Falabella, Mr. Jorge Fernández Bustillo, Mr. José Fernández-Velasco, Mr. José Luis Garci, Mr. Guillermo García-Alcalde, Mr. Jordi García Candau, Ms. Rosina Gómez-Baeza, Mr. Luis Hernando, Mr. Juan Carlos Laviana, Mr. Carlos Madera, Mr. Miguel Muñiz, Ms. Beatriz Pecker, Mr. Benigno Pendás García, Mr. Juan Ramón Pérez Las Clotas, Mr. Rodrigo Uría Meruéndano, Ms. Amelia Valcárcel, Mr. Maximiano Valdés, chaired by Mr. José Lladó Fernández-Urrutia and with Mr. José Antonio Caicoya as secretary - has decided to bestow the 2007 Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts on Robert Allen Zimmerman, Bob Dylan, a living legend in the history of popular music and a guiding light for a generation that dreamt to change the world. Dylan, with an austere manner and profound messages, combines music and poetry in an oeuvre that has gathered a large following and which determines de sentimental education of many millions of people.
For this reason, he embodies the spirit of an age that seeks "in the wind" the hopes residing within the hearts of human beings.
