Journals Nature and Science Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities 2007
At its meeting in Oviedo, the Jury for the 2007 Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities, made up of Mr. José Antonio Álvarez Gundín, Mr. Ignacio Bayón Mariné, Mr. Javier Gómez Cuesta, Mr. Javier González Ferrari, Ms. Ángeles González-Sinde, Mr. Alex Grijelmo, Mr. José Luis Gutiérrez, Mr. Miguel Ángel Liso, Mr. Manuel Lombardero, Mr. Ramón López Vilas, Ms. Catalina Luca de Tena, Mr. Hans Meinke, Mr. Jaime Montalvo Correa, Ms. Beatriz de Moura, Ms. Elena Ochoa, Mr. Pedro Páramo, Mr. José Luis Pardos, Mr. Alberto Pico, Mr. José Antonio Sánchez, Mr. Ricardo Senabre, Mr. Jesús de la Serna, Mr. Enrique Ybarra, chaired by Mr. Manuel Olivencia and with Mr. Juan Luis Iglesias Prada as secretary, has decided to bestow the 2007 Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities on British journal Nature and American journal Science.
Both weekly publications represent the most reliable channel of communication that the international scientific community has today for reporting, after a meticulous and impeccable selection process, the most significant research and discoveries in very diverse scientific fields, and at the same time, disseminate the most important theories and facts, whilst combining rigour and clarity. Science and Nature are linked to the most prestigious universities and are, likewise, indispensable sources of information for specialized journalism in every country. For over a century, they have promoted and disseminated Mankind´s great scientific conquests and thus have brought science closer to life.
