Statement by Leonardo Padura, on being bestowed with the 2015 Princess of Asturias Award For Literature

“Still very moved, yet enormously happy about the news that I have received the very prestigious Princess of Asturias Award for Literature 2015, I wish to express my enormous gratitude to the Princess of Asturias Foundation for this great honour accorded me, which I assume as recognition of many years of work full of creative uncertainties, doubts and fears. My gratitude also to the Jury, which has generously chosen me to receive this prestigious honour that fills me with satisfaction and pride as a human being, as a writer and as a Cuban… Many, many thanks.”
