Statement by Núria Espert, on being bestowed with the 2016 Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts
“I wish to start off by saying how grateful I am to the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts Jury for having evaluated and rewarded my candidature, given the extraordinary figures comprising the nominees. Thank you on behalf of Spanish theatre, whose representative you have made me via this Award.
In the lush and forever youthful tree of the arts, our branch has found generous recognition. On behalf of Spanish theatre, I thank you for the extraordinary efforts made by the Princess of Asturias Awards in raising the intellectual standing of our country.”
