Statement by Svante Pääbo on being bestowed with the 2018 Princess of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research

“I feel very honored to receive the Princess of Asturias Award. I also feel humbled when I consider the list of the distinguished scholars and scientists who have previously received the Award. I see this Award as a recognition not only for me but for the many students and scientists who through their hard and sometimes frustrating work have made it possible to retrieve genomes from extinct or long-dead organisms.”
