“I am so happy to receive this Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, without a doubt the most important award of my career. I have always believed that sport serves to break down barriers, as well as being a source of inspiration and values. And if these factors have made me worthy of this recognition, I can only feel grateful for it. Finally, I wish to express my deepest gratitude to Their Majesties and Her Royal Highness for granting me this honour.”
