Haruki Murakami (Kyoto, Japan, 12th January 1949) graduated in Literature fromWaseda University. A cult author translated into more than forty languages, he ran a jazz club during the beginning of his literary career, with music constituting a key element running throughout his work. He garnered publishing success in 1987 with Norwegian Wood .
