UU., 1962) se graduó en Bioquímica en la Universidad de California en Davis y se doctoró en Bioquímica en la Johns Hopkins en 1990. Trabajó en el Instituto Agouron, en La Jolla, y en 1994 se incorporó a la Universidad de Princeton como profesora en el Departamento de Biología Molecular, que actualmente dirige y donde es profesora Squibb. Ha recibido, entre otros reconocimientos, los premios Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter, el Pearl Meister Greengard, el Shaw Prize Laureate in Life Sciences, junto a Greenberg, la beca McArthur, el L’Oreal Unesco, el Richard Lounsbery y el Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences. Ha sido presidenta de la Sociedad Estadounidense de Microbiología y es miembro de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias, de la Asociación Estadounidense para el Avance de las Ciencias y miembro extranjero de The Royal Society. Bonnie Lynn Bassler (Chicago, USA, 1962) graduated in Biochemistry from the University of California, Davis and received her PhD in Biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University in 1990. She worked at the Agouron Institute in La Jolla (California) and joined Princeton University in 1994 as a professor in the Department of Molecular Biology, which she currently heads and where she is Squibb Professor. Joint Shaw Prize Laureate in Life Sciences, together with Greenberg, she has received the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize, the Pearl Meister Greengard Prize, the McArthur Fellowship, the L’Oreal UNESCO for Women in Science Award, the Richard Lounsbery Award and the Wiley Prize in Biomedical Sciences, among other distinctions. She was president of the American Society for Microbiology and is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, as well as a foreign member of The Royal Society.
