Princess of Asturias Awards 10/22/2014

Update of the schedule for the arrival and press conferences of the Laureates in Asturias

The 2014 Prince of Asturias Laureates will begin to arrive in Asturias from Monday, 20th October onwards to take part in the Awards Ceremony to be held at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo on 24th October. Joaquín S. Lavado Tejón, aka Quino, bestowed with the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities and Joseph Pérez, Prince of Asturias Award for Social Sciences, will be the first to do so.

In addition to featuring in different cultural events throughout the week, this year’s Laureates will hold several meetings with the press, as detailed below.  

Appendices:

1. Arrival of the Laureates at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo.

2. Press conferences to be given by the Laureates.

INFORMATION OF INTEREST:

- Programme subject to change. Updated information at: www.fpa.es

- Arrival times at the Reconquista Hotel are approximate.

- All press conferences will be held in the Reconquista Hotel’s screening room (“Salón de Proyecciones”), the entrance to which is in Arquitecto Reguera Street.

- Graphic material on the Laureates’ arrivals and press conferences will be available in the Online Press Room (OPR) on the www.fpa.es website.

ARRIVAL OF THE LAUREATES

MONDAY, 20th OCTOBER

- Joaquín S. Lavado Tejón, aka Quino, Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities. In the afternoon, time pending.

- Joseph Pérez, Prince of Asturias Award for Social Sciences. Between 5:00pm and 5:30pm.

TUESDAY, 21st OCTOBER

- Caddy Adzuba, Prince of Asturias Award for Concord, is scheduled to arrive at the Reconquista Hotel at 2:00pm.

- Mark E. Davis and Avelino Corma, bestowed with the Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, will get to Oviedo around 5:35pm.

- Writer John Banville, Prince of Asturias Award for Literature, will arrive at the Reconquista Hotel at around 23:30pm.

- Galen D. Stucky, also bestowed with the Prince of Asturias Award for Technical and Scientific Research, will arrive at 5.00pm.

WEDNESDAY, 22nd OCTOBER 

- Mary Wittenberg (president and CEO of the New York Road Runners and director of the New York City Marathon) and George Hirsch (chairman of the board of the New York Road Runners and member of the founding team of the New York City Marathon), who are to collect the award on behalf of the New York City Marathon, Prince of Asturias Award for Sports, are scheduled to arrive at 9:20am.

- Evan Ryan, US Government Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs, who is to collect the Prince of Asturias Award for International Cooperation on behalf of the Fulbright Program, around 9.35pm

THURSDAY, 23rd OCTOBER 

- Frank O. Gehry, Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, will arrive in Oviedo around 2:35pm.
