MEMORIA 2015 PREMIO AL PUEBLO EJEMPLAR DE ASTURIAS
La Fundación concedió el Premio al Pueblo Ejemplar
de Asturias en su edición de 2015 a la localidad
de Colombres (Ribadedeva). El galardón es un
reconocimiento al pueblo, aldea, núcleo de población,
espacio paisajístico o grupo humano del Principado
de Asturias que haya destacado de modo notable en
“la defensa y conservación de su entorno natural,
ambiental, de su patrimonio histórico, cultural
o artístico, o también en la realización de obras
comunales u otras manifestaciones de solidaridad
sobresalientes”.
Colombres recibió la vista de SS.MM. los Reyes
al día siguiente de la ceremonia de entrega de los
Premios. Tras el saludo a las autoridades, los Reyes
realizaron la primera parada en la Casa de Cultura
de Colombres donde fueron recibidos por un grupo
de músicos ataviados como indianos. Don Felipe
y Doña Letizia iniciaron el recorrido por la calle
Barrio Redondo alto, que conserva algunos de los
inmuebles más representativos de la arquitectura
relacionada con la emigración a América de finales
del XIX. Durante el trayecto, los Reyes visitaron
talleres artesanales dedicados a viejos oficios,
como el cuero, la madera y los trajes regionales, y
saludaron a los miembros de la Comisión de Fiestas
y Asociaciones Vecinales de la localidad. Tras la visita
a la Casa Consistorial, los Reyes se aproximaron a la
Feria de Indianos, que se celebra cada mes de julio
en recuerdo de los emigrantes a América que a su
regreso contribuyeron a la prosperidad de Colombres,
y que fue recreada por los vecinos para la ocasión,
convirtiendo al pueblo en un hermoso museo de
época. A continuación, la comitiva se encaminó
hacia la Iglesia de Santa María de Colombres para
contemplar la cúpula restaurada y el pantocrátor,
obra del artista Ioan Patriciu Gotia, y donde las niñas
y mozas del pueblo ejecutaron la “Reverencia”, una
antigua tradición de la comarca al ritmo del tambor
y la pandereta. A su término, los Reyes se dirigieron
a la plaza Manuel Ibáñez para descubrir la placa
The Foundation conferred the 2015 Exemplary
Town of Asturias Award on the locality of Colombres
(Ribadedeva). The Award constitutes a recognition
of the town, village, population centre, scenic area
or group of people in the Principality of Asturias
that has stood out in a notable way in “defending
and conserving its natural or environmental setting,
its historical, cultural or artistic heritage, or in the
carrying out of outstanding communal works or
other such displays of solidarity”.
TM The King and Queen visited Colombres the
day after the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony.
After greeting the authorities, Their Majesties made
the first stop at the Colombres Cultural Centre,
where they were greeted by a group of musicians
dressed as “Indianos” (returning emigrants who had
made their fortune in the Americas or “Indies”).
King Felipe and Queen Letizia started the tour on the
street Barrio Redondo Alto, which retains some of the
buildings most representative of architecture related
to 19th-century emigration to the Americas. Along
the way, Their Majesties visited craft workshops
featuring traditional crafts such as leatherwork,
woodwork and regional costume making and greeted
the members of the locality’s Organizing Committee
for Festivities and Neighbourhood Associations.
After a visit to the town hall, King Felipe and Queen
Letizia stopped at the “Indiano” Fair, which is held
every July in memory of those emigrants to the
Americas who, on their return, contributed to the
prosperity of Colombres. The fair was recreated by
the residents especially for the occasion, turning the
village into a beautiful period museum. The retinue
then headed on to the Church of Santa María de
Colombres to admire the restored dome and Christ
Pantocrator by artist Ioan Patriciu Gotia. There,
girls and young women from the village danced a
“Reverence”, an ancient local tradition performed
to the beat of the drum and tambourine. Following
