Pau Gasol
(Barcelona, 1980) se formó en el Básquet
Llor de Sant Boi, Cornellá y F.C. Barcelona. Comenzó
en la selección española en edad júnior, en la que
se proclamó campeón de España con el Barça.
Debutó en la Liga ACB en 1999 y en 2000-2001
alcanzó su primer título de Liga y su primera Copa
con el Barça, siendo elegido mejor jugador (MVP)
en ambas competiciones. Fue el segundo español
en jugar en la NBA. En su primera temporada, fue
proclamado mejor debutante del año 2002. En 2006
se convirtió en el primer jugador español y primero
de los Grizzlies seleccionado para disputar el Partido
de las Estrellas de la NBA, se proclamó campeón del
Mundo con la selección española en Japón y, en 2007,
subcampeón de Europa. En 2008 fue traspasado a Los
Angeles Lakers, con los que se proclamó campeón
de la Conferencia Oeste de la NBA. En los Juegos
Olímpicos de Pekín llegó con España a la final y
logró la medalla de plata. En 2009 se proclamó con
su equipo campeón de la NBA. En 2010 sumó su
segundo campeonato con los Lakers y consiguió
el oro europeo en 2011 y la plata en los Juegos de
Londres de 2012. En 2014 se incorporó a los Chicago
Bulls.
Pau Gasol
(Barcelona, 1980) started playing in
the Básquet Llor de Sant Boi, in Cornella, and FC
Barcelona youth teams. He began in the Spanish
squad as a junior player, winning the Spanish
championship in this category with Barça. He
debuted in the Spanish ACB League in 1999 and won
his first Spanish League title and his first Spanish Cup
with the club in the 2000-2001 season, being voted
Most Valued Player (MVP) in both competitions.
Gasol was the second Spaniard to play in the NBA.
In 2006, he became the first Spanish player and the
first Grizzlies player to be selected to play in the NBA
All-Star Game and won a gold medal with the Spanish
team at the FIBA World Championships in Japan,
followed by a silver medal at the 2007 EuroBasket
Championship. In 2008, he was traded to Los
Angeles Lakers, with whom he won the NBA Western
Conference Championship. He reached the final
with the Spanish team at the Beijing Olympic Games,
eventually winning the silver medal. In 2009, his
team won the NBA Championship. In 2010, he added
his second championship with the Lakers to his list of
achievements, as well as a European gold medal
in 2011 and silver medal at the 2012 London Games.
He joined the Chicago Bulls in 2014.
