LEONARDO PADURA
Leonardo Padura
(La Habana, 1955) estudió Literatura
Latinoamericana en la Universidad de La Habana y, tras
varios años dedicado al periodismo, inició con
Pasado
perfecto
(1991) la serie de novelas protagonizadas
por el detective Mario Conde, que ha tenido gran éxito
internacional y ha sido traducida a varios idiomas,
además de obtener importantes premios literarios.
La serie está formada por
Vientos de cuaresma
(1992),
Máscaras
(1995),
Paisaje de otoño
(1998),
Adiós,
Hemingway
(2001),
La neblina de ayer
(2003) y
Herejes
(2013). Con su novela
El hombre que amaba a los perros
(2009) alcanzó un indudable éxito internacional. Ha
escrito también guiones cinematográficos, cuentos
y ensayos, además de ediciones de sus entrevistas y
reportajes. Padura ha recibido, entre otros, el Premio
Café Gijón, dos veces el Premio Hammett
de la Semana Negra de Gijón, el Premio de las Islas,
el Prix des Amériques insulaires et de la Guyane,
el Premio a la Mejor novela policiaca traducida en
Alemania y en Austria, el Premio Raymond Chandler
y el Premio Francesco Gelmi di Caporiacco, el Prix
Initiales, el de la Crítica del Instituto Cubano del Libro
y el Carbet del Caribe. Premio Nacional de Literatura
(Cuba, 2012), en 2013 le fue concedida la Orden
de las Artes y las Letras de Francia.
Leonardo Padura
(Havana, Cuba, 1955) studied Latin
American literature at the University of Havana. After
working for several years as a journalist, he began
the series of novels featuring the detective Mario Conde
with
Havana Blue
(1991) which has enjoyed major
international success and has been translated into several
languages, besides winning important literary awards.
The series comprises

Adios, Hemingway
(2001),
Havana Fever
(2003) and
Herejes
(2013). He achieved
undisputed international success with his novel
The Man Who Loved Dogs
(2009). He has also written
film scripts, short stories and essays, in addition to
editions of his interviews and news articles. Among
other awards, Padura has received the Café Gijón Prize,
the Hammett Prize on two occasions at Gijón’s
Semana
Negra
or Noir Week, the Premio de las Islas, the Prix des
Amériques insulaires et de la Guyane, the Prize for the
Best Crime Novel translated in Germany and in Austria,
the Raymond Chandler Prize and the Francesco Gelmi
di Caporiacco Prize, the Prix Initiales, the Critics Award
from the Cuban Institute of Books and the Carbet
del Caribe Award. Holder of the 2012 National Literature
Prize of Cuba, he was awarded France’s Ordre des Arts et
des Lettres in 2013.
